Lucky, Lucky Buckeyes!

 

Miami Valley Gaming is a casino in Ohio, USA that opened in 2013. While the
construction of the facility was being completed, we were assigned to build the brand
and help launch it in a competitive market.

The brand identity was inspired by the design of the facility and a distinctive
architectural feature found inside the casino. The interior ceiling featured a unique
light installation that seamlessly ran through almost every part of the casino.
The glyph portion of the brand logo is designed to mimic this line of energy and
excitement that runs through the casino while also representing the "MV"
from the Miami Valley Gaming name.

We built the brand on a 'local' or 'home team' positioning to counter the major
competition that all had close ties to out-of-state, national gaming corporations.

TV creative and motion content delivered 'local' by tapping into the popularity of a state
icon, the Buckeye Nut. In Ohio, buckeyes are considered very lucky and casinos are
a place where luck comes in handy - a perfect alignment for Miami Valley Gaming.
The characters we created to tell the story of the lucky buckeye have become so
well known in the market that the state has experienced a buckeye shortage.

There is something to be said about longevity in a world that can have a very short
attention span. The Lucky Buckeye Co. campaign has been running for more than a
decade with no signs of slowing down. Since the launch, every creative team that has
stepped in has contributed with wildly funny scenarios that Ohio continues to
enjoy, building a strong connection with Miami Valley Gaming.
